Robert was born in Havana, Cuba. In 1957, his father, Samuel Grabb, moved the family to Miami, Florida, so he could pursue his medical education. Samuel’s plan was to move his family back to Cuba after his three years of medical study. However, circumstances in Cuba changed drastically during those years. As a result, the Grabb family remained in the United States. In 1962, the family moved from Miami to Tucson, Arizona.
Robert attended high school, college, and law school in Tucson. He obtained his Juris Doctorate (law degree) in 1983. Robert’s parents always stressed the importance of education and hard work. Albert Grabb, Robert’s older brother, is now a well-known radiologist in Southern California. Robert’s younger brother, Jimmy Grabb, achieved fame in his own right by being ranked as the best doubles tennis player in the world on several occasions and number 23 in singles. Robert followed his passion and chose to become a personal injury lawyer and has been defending the rights of Tucson injury victims ever since.
After working for several other law firms over the course of a decade, Robert decided to open his own firm with Nann Durando in 1994. In 2001, Robert was one of the attorneys for Rowland in Rowland v. Great State Insurance.
In this case, the Arizona Court of Appeals agreed with the firm’s position that a workers’ compensation carrier could not add the cost of its independent medical examination to its statutory liens.
